Bob and Brad C2 Massage Gun Product Review

The short answer is I’m now a big fan of the C2 Massage Gun from Bob and Brad. It packs a lot of power in it’s ergonomic design, and with multiple attachment heads and relatively short charge time, this is a go to massage gun you can feel confident with at an unsurpassable price.

Just because I’m a 37-year-old dad with a dad bod doesn’t keep me from working out and putting my muscles to work. Yard work, rec ice hockey, golfing, skiing, road cycling, lifting, and just everyday running around and playing with my two boys is enough to give me aches and soreness. Tending to your muscles is incredibly important not just for performance but for recovery and being able to live a comfortable life.

I had the opportunity to product review the C2 Massage Gun from renowned physical therapists Bob and Brad. I was really excited and anxious to try one out because I’ve never used a massage gun before. Two words folks: life changing. Massage guns are one of the world’s best inventions and I’m here to tell you Bob and Brad know how do to them right.

I used the C2 Massage Gun for a week after performing some different activities (mowing the lawn, 45-minute bike ride, my typical 30-minute evening workout routine, and an 18-hole round of golf). Below is my honest review of the product, and I hope you find it useful if you are in the market to purchase a massage gun.

Out Of The Box (Or Should I Say Bag)

Product Box for Bob and Brad C2 Massage Gun

The packaging of a product often indicates the seriousness of the manufacturer. Bob and Brad C2’s carrying case is a thing of beauty. The two-zipper case is compact, making it easy to carry in a larger bag. When opened, everything is neatly packed, with the device standing out in the middle of the bag. The package includes a charger, a USB-C cable, and 5 attachments, which is one more than the industry standard of 4 attachments. The Bob and Brad C2 has a professional look with its black and silver paint, although it may seem a bit plasticky. Overall, the device appears to be durable and sturdy. While it may not elicit love at first sight, it still looks impressive.

Opening up the C2 massage gun travel bag

Picking it up for the first time it had some weight to it — not feeling cheap but heavy and sturdy. Like a power tool for your body. It also has an oval handle design which fits your grip perfectly. Weighing in at about 1.5 lbs. it’s not what you may expect from a small massage gun. It felt comfortable holding it and getting it familiar in my hand. It never was uncomfortable or like I needed two hands to hold or operate this massage gun.

Getting the attachments in and out takes a little effort, but not so much you’re struggling to get them in or out. Just give them a nice push to get one of the heads into the gun or a nice tug to pull it out and exchange it for a different head.

Speaking of attachments, here’s what the C2 Massage Gun comes with…

C2 Massage Gun Attachments

The ball head is the most common massage head and is used for general massage on any part of the body. The C2 model has a plastic ball head that works well but could benefit from foam.

The fork/spine head has two prongs that go on either side of the spine and can also be used to massage the calf area. The hard plastic spine head does the job effectively.

The bullet head is used to target specific painful spots on the body.

The flat head, also made of hard plastic in the C2 model, is a power head that is used for larger muscles such as the quads and pecs.

The Air Cushion Head, or cushion head, is a combination of the flat head and a rubber cushion. This head is used when a deeper massage is desired without feeling excessive vibrations on the body. The C2’s cushion head is my personal favorite. It worked wonders on my neck and shoulders.

Using The C2 Massage Gun

For starters, I have to admit it was a little tricky first figuring out how to turn it on. No, I didn’t read the instructions at first, but I figured it out. You have to do a long hold on the power button to turn it on, and then additional pushes on the same button to change the speed.

For not being a gym rat and frequently using massage guns, I was pleasantly surprised by the Bob and Brad C2 Massage Gun, despite its lower amplitude of only 8 mm. The high percussion settings make up for it, effectively massaging your muscles. This massage gun is ideal for those new to percussive therapy and those seeking a high-quality, affordable massage gun.

The battery lasts a long time when used for short periods, but it has a built-in battery that requires charging and cannot be used while charging. It comes with a USB-C cable so it charges like most cell phones.

The C2 is a relatively quiet massage gun, and makes for a great portable device for those always on the go. You can put it in your bag, and you won’t even notice it’s there. Also the bag it comes in is small enough to fit in your luggage without issue.

From the research I did online the 8mm amplitude is low for intensive deep-muscle penetration, but for me I felt satisfied for sore muscle relief.

So What’s The Bottom Line?

It’s a pretty cool little device, lightweight and just the right size to hold comfortably in your hand. It also comes with a good set of accessories. It met all of the expectations I had as a non serious athlete, and would even be a great gift for dads looking to get into better shape. The only thing is, it may be better suited for someone who’s just starting with percussive therapy. You can’t beat this price though for what you get.
